Chromira Summer Bash 2003
ZBE's Service Department Throws 3rd Annual Chromira
Convention
Carpinteria, CA - ZBE, Incorporated concluded
its third annual Chromira Users Group Summer Bash this
past June. Though the conference gave attendees a hands-on
opportunity to learn more about maintaining and using
their Chromira RA4 Digital Photographic Printers, the
sessions were were mainly geared towards the applications
of digital imaging, from color management to balancing
to utilizing ZBE's imaging and packaging Chromira softwares,
WorkStream and WorkStation. Said Ron Gin, ZBE's Service
Manager, "The users already know how to use their
Chromiras. We were interested in using this year's meeting
to help them be more effective with the steps that come
pre-printing."
The Chromira Users Group Summer Bash 2003 was held in Carpinteria,
California where ZBE is headquartered, just 10 miles south of downtown
Santa Barbara. It lasted 3 days from June 26-28. Attendees of ZBE's
conference were domestic Chromira users, several of which had been present
at past Chromira Users Group seminars. ZBE's Chromira convention consisted
of two days of user training sessions, and several events designed to
help create a dialog with users and ZBE employees, which included ZBE's
good-bye event, a whale watching trip from Santa Barbara.
Though many of the sessions were presided over by ZBE's Service Department,
who sponsored the event, guest speakers were also in attendance. ZBE's
color management consultant, Jon Meyer of GrafixGear discussed issues
of color management and monitor profiling, and Photofinishing News's
Don Franz rounded out the conference with a session concerning the current
state of the photo printing industry and ways to market a lab's digital
services in it. The Chromira Users Group sessions also featured discussions
of ZBE's future products, the Chromira5x Lab, Chromira5x 30 and Chromira5x
50 printers. The new Chromira5x printers of special importance to current
Chromira owners because of the upgrade option available to them. ZBE-hosted
functions such as dinners and ZBE's wrap-up whale watching tour allowed
Chromira owners, technicians, and their families to have fun, mingle
with ZBE employees, and informally network and share information.

imaging technology. ZBE's hybrid LED imaging technology resulted in
