RMS VOLTAGE TEST DIAGNOSTIC
This test will run the lamps at three different voltage
levels, roughly "low," "medium,"
and "high." The procedure follows:
Enter the Starlite Diagnostic, "RMS VOLTAGE TEST."
(Press MENU, followed by <8>, ENTER, <4>,
ENTER.)
The LCD display on the keypad will read out "RMS
LAMP VOLTAGE TEST" on the top line. The bottom
line will display the correct lamp voltage.
This voltage readout will step through three values.
The voltages displayed for each setting should be as
follows:
>Low: Voltage between 6.5
volts and 13.5 volts.
>Med: Voltage between 37.0
volts and 41.0 volts.
>High: Voltage between 71.0
volts and 74.0 volts.
Watch as the computer steps through these values. Each
voltage level is maintained for about five seconds.
The voltage readings should roughly be within the ranges
indicated above. Keep watch for a brighter light output
with a lower voltage indication: the lamps should be
brightest at the highest indicated voltage. This would
represent a failure in the RMS sensing circuitry.
If everything look fine, press CANCEL to end this test.
A failure in this test is caused by a failure in the
main Motherboard in the Starlite Colorhead.
If this test reveals a problem, the failure is in the
Starlite Motherboard. Please contact me ASAP, if this
is the case. If the failure is in the Solid-State relay,
the head will blow all lamps immediately when the power
switch is thrown, or there will be no lamp activity
at all. The fact that only one lamp blew out indicates
a heating problem, rather than any electrical or electronic
failures.
